Milestones are used to define the primary steps or tasks required to successfully complete a goal. The milestones assigned to goals in V2R should summarize the major phase gates or steps that are required to successfully complete each goal. A separate milestone should be assigned to each phase gate or step.
Project Managers can also use V2R milestones to assign responsibility for the project team assigned to a project goal. For most project based goals it is recommended that project management software like Microsoft Project be used to manage the detail project tasks, their interdependent relationships and corresponding due dates. V2R should be used to manage how effective and efficient the project team was achieving the concisely defined project goal.
