Previously we defined Strategy Execution as the formal process that some management teams use to help their organizations effectively implement strategic plans in a timely and efficient manner. Strategy Execution must be associate centric. It is only effective when the critical mass of associates in an organization are held individually accountable for achieving their assigned goals.
Unfortunately, Strategy Execution in most organizations today is done informally by managers employing a variety of Seat-of-the-Pants (SOP) methods that they have successfully used in the past. In the previous on-line book, we reviewed the evolution that has taken place and how traditional managers have used varying degrees of fear, persuasion and incentive to informally modify the behavior of their organizations in pursuit of attaining their strategic plans.
Informal SOP methods are inadequate today to drive the strategic change in organizations that is necessary to satisfy the customer's increasing demands for improved quality, shorter deliveries, greater variety, more service and lower prices. Global competition is accelerating this race, posing an even greater challenge for organizations competing today to implement their strategic plans.
Ironically, the body of knowledge surrounding Strategy Execution remains in its infancy even though most organizations continually struggle to execute their strategies in a timely and efficient manner. Revcor, a world-class manufacturer of air-moving solutions for the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) market place recognized the limitations of informal strategy execution back in 1996. For the last 12 years Revcor and Vision2Reality have worked together to develop the proprietary process that has matured to become "No Excuses" Strategy Execution (NESE).
This free online book summarizes our "No Excuses" process. Our purpose is to expand the body of knowledge surrounding formal strategy execution. We hope you enjoy the content, but are also willing to help expand our body of knowledge by "Contacting the Practitioners" to ask questions or share your experiences.
